Announcing the 2010 Downtown Rummage Sale!!

Each year, the City of Portland performs a wonderful service for its residents and the surrounding townships:  Spring Clean-Up.  Every April, eligible city and township residents are invited to get rid of "stuff" that's been piling up in garages, attics, etc.  After all, spring is when we do "spring cleaning"!  

A number of us have often wished the weather was warm enough to have a yard sale before the Spring Clean-Up weekend--sell what we don't need before just sending it off to a landfill.  All of us are becoming more responsible about recycling, and who couldn't use some extra cash?  Of course, Michigan weather in April makes that idea impossible . . . or does it?

This year, Portland Main Street will host a Rummage Sale the weekend before Spring Clean-Up weekend.  Start planning now to join in.  City residents will be able to reserve a space and pay Main Street just 10% of their sale proceeds.  Would you rather just donate your items?  We'll have some ways to do that, as well.

In addition to the rummage sale, we'll offer local schools, churches, and nonprofits an opportunity to shop for items they might need.  We're also exploring ways we might be able to encourage recycling:  eyeglasses, cellphones, computers, etc.

Space is limited, so if you're interested in having a space at the Rummage Sale, please fill out the form below; we'll send details when they're available later this month. 

Not planning on selling?  The plan to attend our first Main Street Rummage Sale on April 16-17, 2010, & spend some money!
