Portland Main Street Statistics

Each year, Portland Main Street volunteers work many hours to help keep Portland one of the best small towns in Michigan. Did you know:

  • In 2008-2009, Main Street volunteers gave 1,569.5 hours to the revitalization efforts in downtown Portland.
  • That in 2008-2009, downtown Portland had a net gain of four new businesses.
  • That as of January 2010, downtown Portland has almost a 98% occupancy rate in downtown storefronts.
  • Downtown Portland businesses cooperatively employ over 300 people, making it one of the largest employers in the city.
This success is due to the great cooperative nature of downtown business owners, the support of city residents, and the volunteers that give their time and talents to their community.

But, as successful as we have been, we are always looking for more talented individuals to get involved! If you're interested in joining in the fun of being a Main Street volunteer, we encourage you to call the Portland Main Street office at (517) 647-5027 or click here to get more information electronically.
