Portland Pay Day

Portland Pay Day is our own "shop local" campaign that works to keep dollars in Portland-area businesses! For every $10 spent in a participating business, customers are entered into a drawing to win $1,200 or other prizes. This promotion has kept over $339,000 in Portland over the past five years. Business Seminars and Workshops

Do you own a business or are you thinking of starting a new business in Portland? Portland Main Street has partnered for over two years with the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC) to bring business trainings for new and established business owners to Portland. We offer trainings on subjects such as:

  • Business Financing
  • Business Plan Writing
  • Small Business Marketing
  • Working with the Small Business Administration
  • Small Business Legal Issues
  • Small Business HR Solutions
  • Social Media and Website Training for Small Business Owners

Our Economic Revitalization Committee works hard to bring these business trainings to you! These trainings are FREE and are open to business owners throughout the region!

Have an idea? Get involved!

Do you have an idea for a promotion, event, or training? Great! Portland Main Street is a volunteer-led and volunteer-run organization - not a one person show! For more information on how you can get involved with your community, please contact our office at (517) 647-5027 or send an email to our Manager at ddamainstreet@portland-michigan.org!

The Portland Main Street program exists at the intersection of historic preservation and economic development. Our goal is to revitalize the downtown while protecting and enhancing the unique historic buildings. Our volunteers work to protect the sense of place and history that downtown Portland holds and build on that.
