New Designs for Downtown Buildings

Each year, Michigan Main Street communities like Portland are offered free design services from the Michigan Main Street Center. These services are competitive in each community, and are worth between $3,000 and $5,000 a piece.

In 2010, three buildings were chosen to receive these services through an application process. The buildings chosen were 136 - 140 Kent Street, 108 Kent Street,  and 123 - 125 Kent Street.

The Portland Main Street program has received the renderings for all three of the buildings. Please find below the schematic drawings from Michigan Main Street Historic Architect Kelly Larson.

All of these renderings have been developed following the Secretary of the Interior's "Standards for Rehabilitation" and therefore follow strict guidelines for any historic preservation work.
